What is ASAP?

The Association of Sacramento Area Planners (ASAP), located in the Sacramento, California area, is devoted to the advancement of the theory and practice of business continuity planning, business recovery planning, disaster recovery planning, and emergency response management. ASAP provides an environment where members can keep informed about the latest trends and technologies available in business continuity, recovery planning and emergency response.

ASAP members are professionals in the private and public sectors. Members receive educational and professional development opportunities and a forum in which to share experiences, to resolve common problems and to address common needs.

ASAP's focus is in Northern California. Most of our members are in the extended Sacramento area. ASAP meets the second Wednesday of each month at State of California, Department of Technical Services 9323 Tech Center Drive, in Sacramento, California 95826.

Mission

The mission of ASAP is to provide an exchange group to promote the education of the individual for the improvement and development of his or her capabilities relating to disaster recovery and business continuity planning in government and corporate environments.

ASAP objectives are to:

Promote the education and expand the knowledge and skills of its members in the interrelated concerns of disaster recovery and business continuity planning

Encourage a free exchange of disaster recovery and business continuity techniques, approaches and problem solving by its members

Provide adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events in disaster recovery and business continuity planning which can be beneficial to themselves and their associates

Communicate to government and corporate management, the importance of establishing disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the effective utilization of government and corporate resources in the event of a disaster

Benefits

The association’s benefits include:

Monthly meetings with presentations on topics requested by members.

A monthly newsletter that provides meeting information, speaker reviews and related articles submitted by members.

Participation in ASAP meetings and workshops provide credit toward continuing education units (CEUs) for professional certification.

Membership

Membership in ASAP shall be based upon one having an interest and active involvement in disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Membership is free and shall be renewed by members each January.

Organization

ASAP began in 1989 as a non-profit association. Activities of the association are directed by the elected officers to meet the specific needs of the membership. Meetings are held monthly at State of California, Department of Technical Services 9323 Tech Center Drive, in Sacramento, California 95826 and, on occasion, may include offsite tours or presentations. Membership meetings feature knowledgeable speakers, group forums and hands-on workshops. Topical information and reference material are available.
